Safety Conference
I led design for the annual Safety Conference + Expo in 2019 and 2020, ultimately I introduced a brand redesign in 2021 but am proud of the work that was created for the predecessing conferences. I refined the visual brand guidelines and developed the design strategy. I oversaw numerous digital, social and print deliverables including the user interface for the Safety 2019 App and Safety 2020 Virtual Event platform.

Design Strategy
The logo and graphic element shapes were provided by 88 Brands, who American Society of Safety Professionals worked with for the master rebrand and had asked for a quick add-on for their annual Safety Conference. Brand guidance was not provided on how to implement brand elements into design which is why I played a role in developing the design strategy while building the visual style guide. Since the annual conference travels to different locations within the US from year-to-year, I thought it would make most sense if the graphic shapes were layered in various combinations of color, pattern and size evoking a sense of place.
Style Guide

2020 – Orlando to Virtual
Safety 2020 was initially intended to take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Certain shapes were selected and arranged to evoke a sense of the tropical and sunny location. However, unexpected circumstances required the conference to shift from in-person to virtual in the matter of two months. Since the branding was already live for several months before the transition, I felt it made sense to keep the look and feel consistent, while putting an emphasis on imagery that reflected a connected virtual experience.

2019 – New Orleans
Safety 2019 took place at the Ernest N. Memorial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The playful grid arrangement for the shapes was created to evoke a sense of the French Quarter and vibrant music scene in NOLA.
